How we manage the data lifecycle

Data assets are managed across the enterprise using a centralized data management approach led by the Office of the 首席数据官 (OCDO) and Office of Technology and Innovation (T&I). 的se offices engage regularly with leaders across the agency to maintain a robust program that consistently meets the data needs of the Bureau. 的 OCDO leads the Bureau’s data strategy and data policy development to facilitate innovation in data-driven decision making while ensuring compliance with relevant laws, 规定, and policies such as the Federal Data Strategy and Foundations for Evidence Based 政策making Act (Evidence Act). T&I’s Enterprise Data Analytics (EDA) teams work with the OCDO to maintain the data infrastructures and security of our systems. 的 enterprise data management program will be consistently evaluated and improved through the data strategy to ensure data resources continue to align with policy priorities and mission objectives.

Foundations for Evidence Based 政策 Making Act of 2018

Congress passed the Evidence Act to systemically improve Federal agencies’ management of data and use of evidence to address policy questions. Title II of the Evidence Act, the OPEN Government Data Act, established requirements that promote the transparency and accessibility of 政府ernment data assets with our stakeholders – including the public. Each department or agency shall designate a 首席数据官 to lead data 政府ernance and data lifecycle management, an Evaluation Officer to lead the agency’s evaluation and learning agenda activites, and a Statistical Officer to advise on statistical policy, 技术, 和程序. 的 Bureau has designated the following senior officials:

In 2014, the Data Governance Board (DGB) was established to serve as our Enterprise-wide data 政府ernance advisory body. 的 DGB is responsible for assessing the benefits and risks associated with the management of our data assets, reviewing and offering guidance on data policies, and improving information 政府ernance standards. To streamline the data intake and release request processes, the Bureau established the Data Intake Group (DIG) and Data Release Group (DRG). 的 DIG and DRG help centralize the review process and ensure compliance with relevant laws, 规定, and Bureau policies before data is brought into the Bureau or released to the public. Data requests of high sensitivity are further reviewed by the DGB to mitigate risk.

的 DGB meets twice monthly and is chaired by the 首席数据官 (CDO). 的 DGB is comprised of senior staff from across the Bureau, including representatives from the OCDO, 隐私团队, 网络安全团队, 亚搏体育官方网站 & External Affairs (CEEA), Supervision, 执行 & Fair Lending Division (SEFL), 研究, Markets & Regulations Division (RMR), Legal Division (LD), Office of the Director, and the Operations Division.
